Fabulous Five
Neil Pardington - his work in the series The Clinic shows the sterile environment of hospitals and the idea of what hospitals are supposed to be like.
Matt Siber - Matt takes any word identification a person has with an object, removes it from the picture, forcing the viewer to rely solely on color, shape, and form. He then adds the text in a new document, extracting the color, shape and form, repeating the identification process without the image.
Martin Buday - In his Blandscape series, he shows of the bland, boring, and uneventful landscapes people have. This photograph is one of my favorites due to the uses of bright color and strategic placement of houses and the picnic table.
Jen Davis - Her work is awesome!! She photographs herself, showing what it is like to be a plus sized woman in today's world. Her fantasy portraits show her fantasies: what it's like to be with a man in a "normal" relationship.
Fantasy no. 2 2005 from the series Self-Portraits
Beth Yarnelle Edwards - Beth shows off examples of suburban living, for those who don't live it, and capture it in the most perfect way. Every aspect of her photographs are detailed, and yet slightly humorous.

Trish Morrisssey
By referencing and parodying old norms of vernacular photography it becomes something completely new.
Eve Fowler
This photographer deals with many cultural issues of femininity, masculinity, and variances in sexuality.
Whitney Hubbs
After so much exposure to technologically influenced and digitally altered photography in art, and the culture at large; I feel a lo-fi approach is refreshing and in a strange way, new. That is within the context of modern photography as a whole.
Abe Morell
He has taken one of the oldest photographic techniques and by implementing color has composed a contemporary take on the method of the camera obscura.
Sarah Kalagvano
Referencing photographs of centerfolds within this photograph creates an awkwardness between the subject and her surroundings.

Julia fullerton
Playful use of scale. Contemporary photography is often violent and disorienting.
luke gilford
Abstracted oil slick looks like nebula. Non representational photography all the rage lately.
aaron gustafson
Found photograph scanned. (photo of a photo). Brings up idea of fading memory and photo as artifact. Half destroyed quality calls attention to the fragility of such memories/arifacts.
Bernis earle
unusual pigment print looks like mixed media. no mention of it though. must be photoshopped. not sure. Unusual use of black blob as ominous dark cloud
has psychological impact. strange.
bettina pousttchi
high contrast security camera like image. big brother imagery calls attention to reduced privacy in contemporary society.
Five Photographers
Meiko Takechi Arquillos is a photographer who enjoys photographing children and pays attention to the smallest detail.
Oliver Laude; I enjoy the colors and the face on opposition you're forced to take when looking at his photographs.
Noah Webb; I like the way he pays attention to the modern details in peoples environments
Tim Davis is modern because in his series 'The New Antiquity' he focus' on how old land marks and historical items are sheltered or even altered by modern marvels.
Elena Dorfman touches on some more 'modern' subjects and often becomes part of a world through her photographs.

Alison Brady
Brian Ulrich from series called "Thrift"
Dina Kantor from series "out of context"
Adam Hestor from his series "Travel"
Katie Shapiro from her series "a(part)/together"
All considered contemporary photography because they all still shoot until this day with a certain, specific style and composition that can be related to other photographer's images. They are all clean, simple and straightforward photographs.

Jill Greenberg's work with crying babies is a huge fav. I personally don't find anything inhumane about them, unlike some commenters about her work. They show pure, raw emotion of what it's like to be alittle kid.
Jan Von Holleben's work from the past 2 years excites me. His photographs are all about kids and their imaginations. He has done multiple bodies of work but the 2 that I just <3<3<3>
"The Astronauts" from Dreams of Flying, 02'-09'

Ryan Trecartin
"Tommy-chat Just E-mailed Me" . 2006
© Ryan Trecartin
Trecartin describes (Tommy-Chat Just E-mailed Me) as a "narrative video short that takes place inside and outside of an e-mail." Trecartin's intense visualization of electronic communication is inhabited by a cast of stylized characters: Pam, a Jewish lesbian librarian with a screaming baby in an ultra-modern hotel room; Tammy and Beth, who live in an apartment filled with installation art; and Tommy, who is seen in a secluded lake house in the woods. Pam, Tommy and Tammy are all played by Trecartin, who, wearing his signature make-up, jumps back and forth between male and female roles.
Totally self-absorbed and equipped with vestigial attention spans, the characters are constantly communicating with one another on the phone or online. Their e-mail exchanges and Internet searches are channeled into bright animations that intersect with the "real world" locations. The story moves from person to person like a browser surfing through Web pages. Engrossed in manic electronic interactions, the characters become increasingly isolated and solipsistic.

Californiaaaaaa...
These are some Holga images I took while briefly out in California this summer. My trip entailed not only my first time flying, but my furthest trip west of Harrisburg. I know, I'm sheltered. Regardless it was absolutely beautiful and the bluest skies I have ever seen.
